This Berkshire rural country pub was taken over back in March 2005 by Mike and Katie
Robinson. It underwent some refurbishment to improve the kitchen facilities and to
increase the seating area for food and now seats around 45 in informal and cosy
surroundings. We have tried to maintain the historic atmosphere of the pub, which was part
of the local brick works and originally opened to satisfy the thirst of the workers. Housing
bricks for Frilsham and the surrounding villages were fired with clay dug from the fields in
front of the pub.
Children are welcome in the restaurant and garden as are dogs (only bar and garden). We
have our own pub dog Sassy who is very sociable and gets on well with everyone.
There is a varied wine list which ranges from a selection of very decent, but reasonably priced, house wines up to the more
expensive selection for those who wish to splash out. We also serve a range of award winning real ales from West Berkshire
Brewery.
Since opening, we have won numerous awards and been the subject of a popular 12 episode TV programme (”Heavens
Kitchen”) followed by a number of sequels. Watch ITV “Countrywise” on Sunday 8th August where Mike is a Presenter
