Subject: Dinner 16th June 2008

Dear All,

Just had to drop you a line for the super evening last night:
We arrived a little early and were able to enjoy a pint of superb local beer before sitting
down to a fantastic three course meal with excellent waitress service. (Please congratulate her).

Although this was my seventh time of dining at the Pot Kiln, each time gets better than the previous visit and I cannot wait to dine there again. Once again please pass on my and my families thanks on to your staff for a very special evening.

PS. Mike’s mum recommended the Gravadlax and my son said it was absolutely splendid.

Hi Kate,
My husband and brother in law came to The Pot Kiln on 7/6/08 for an evening meal.

I would just like to pass on there thanks for a fantastic evening with Superb food and amazing views.

They spent some time with Mike’s mum and they said what a special lady she is making them feel so welcome and she introduced them to one of the chef’s who had the evening off.  He told them about where the food is sourced and even showed them your marvellous vegetable garden.  They said it was great being with someone who is so proud of what they do and where they work.

Once again please pass their thanks on to your very special staff.
We hope to come and visit very soon as a family.

 Kind regards
Joanne

Just a quick note to thank you for a lovely evening last friday.  The waitresses were very obliging and it does make a nice change to meet people who are well informed about the produce on the menu. We cannot remember the last time we had such fantastic food and service.   Please pass our compliments on to everyone involved.

The pigeon & black pudding starter was a particular hit with both of us - I have always maintained I don't like black pudding but I'm definitely converted!

We will definitely be back again soon, it's well worth the drive from Northampton.

Regards,
Claire

Subject: Last night 25 April

Dear All -

Just to say thank you for a lovely evening last night.  I found you quite by chance on the internet while looking for somewhere to take my wife for a meal out.  It was lovely to come to such a tranquil spot and we were given a warm welcome by the staff on arrival (fine beer, too!!).  The meal we enjoyed was absolutely wonderful.  It seems rare to enjoy three courses where everything is practically perfect but you certainly managed to please both our palettes yesterday!  The wood pigeon salad (best black pud ever) and rabbit (which melted!) that I had were both fantastic and Kerri loved the beetroot and goats' cheese salad and roe deer (I did manage to steal a piece - gorgeous!); the banoffee surpassed memories that I have from enjoying that treat at The Green Dragon in Elkstone in the late 1980s - that pub at the time was famous for the best banoffee in the Cotswolds.

Many thanks once again - we'll be back…

As ever,

Roland

23 March 2008

Thank you for a great time yesterday, Saturday 22nd March, I brought the whole of my family over for lunch to celebrate my Fiftieth birthday, and all the staff at the Pot Kiln contrive to make it a special occasion, the food was delicious, I don't think anyone left anything on their plates, the beer and wine immensely drinkable, the waitresses attentive and knowledgeable without being pushy. Please give all my congratulations and thanks to all the staff at the Pot Kiln for a marvellous meal, I know my family had a wonderful time, all eleven of us.

Thank you once again.

Steve

Subject: Lunch 14th March

Just a note to thank you for our lunch on Friday 14th March.

My wife is a keen amateur chef and hard to please but she and I were delighted with our lunch.
Great location, fantastic food, delightful pub, freindly and professional staff. I'm sure we'll be back

Subject: A big thankyou

We have just returned home from the Pot Kiln having enjoyed an excellent lunch as our prize for submitting the best "healthy recipe" at the recent over 50s conference at Newbury Rugby Club.
Lorna had the venison terrine and I had the wood pigeon salad, then we both had the pave of fallow deer. This was particularly nice as following your presentation we could imagine you up at the crack of dawn stalking your prey!
Your staff were faultless and made us feel very welcome.
Thank you from both of us.

Dear Pot-Kiln,

I came with my wife and daughter for Sunday lunch last weekend, and feel moved to congratulate you on a wonderful, friendly, confident operation that does a fine  job of combining pub and restaurant. My pheasant was better than I have ever had cooked for me; I have never seen my 3 year old demolish a plate of food with such vigour. I went to Scotts in Mount Street two weeks ago, and was struck by their  high standard of service and excellent food. The Pot Kiln beats them in all departments.

Yours,

Mr M O

Subject: Best Pub Curry....

......in fact, take that back the BEST curry I've had in ages and I work in IT - curry is a way of life when you work with geeks!

Anyway, Mike, Katy and the rest of the staff, thanks for a lovely evening in the bar of the Pot Kiln. So refreshing to see people talking to each other and dogs in the bar - so refreshing  so many people view dogs as filthy and dangerous - but of course we know better ;)

We have to travel for over an hour to get to the Pot Kiln so sadly cant visit that often but on every occasion it's been well worth it. I love the place, I love the food, the location  but most of all I love the atmosphere of a true country pub.

Next time we're there I'll bring my Gordon Setters (one of which I am training in the old fashioned discipline of setting) with me and perhaps go for a walk over the fields before we have a pub lunch.

thanks again for a wonderful evening,

L

Hello Mike,

Phew! What a birthday!
Now that I have just about got my breath back I want to say "thank you, thank you, thank you" to you and Sophie and Ruth and all the chefs and everyone else at PK for what must have been the best birthday ever. My wife was not at all in favour of my opening my presents at the table (which was only one reason she was not invited) but I don't think I caused too much disruption and it was such fun. As was the mushrooming even though I was no more successful than I was at fly fishing. Then when I arrived for the second dinner I had two more surprises. First was your bottle of champagne - thank you so much. I am sorry you were not there to share it with me. I tried to share it with the girls but they were dutiful and politely declined. The second surprise came from the chefs who offered me a tasting menu which was wonderful. After the onion soup with cider I shall never have French onion soup again - well, hardly ever.

I was in fact celebrating two other family events of note. My married daughter had just give birth to our first grandchild "we are a grandfather" and one of the twins had just become engaged to be married. I guess my next visit will just have to be for pure pleasure.

Oh, by the way. The people at Hambleton Hall on Rutland Water said in their newsletter that they had paid you a visit and they were very complimentary but perhaps slightly wistful that you were even better at game than they were! However, they do do an exclusively truffle menu which I intend to sample. How about you doing the same.

with very best wishes,

Stephen
